Beyond the unparalleled training, hands-on experience, and valuable networking opportunities, our alumni have gone on to achieve remarkable success. Many have secured roles with other prestigious arts organizations, collaborated with renowned artists in the Broadway Dreams network, or joined the Broadway Dreams team in seasonal, part-time, or full-time capacities.
Participants are chosen through a highly selective process, ensuring that each apprentice or intern embodies the dedication and excellence Broadway Dreams represents. These programs come with a clear set of weekly responsibilities that demand precision, professionalism, and a strong work ethic. In recognition of this commitment, participation in the program is offered free of charge.
Please note that housing and travel expenses are not covered. However, with the Broadway Dreams Multi-City Summer Tour visiting numerous locations, you may find a program in or near your city. Apprenticeships

Performance Apprenticeship
The Performance Apprenticeship is a leadership role designed for performers with advanced experience and a proven ability to take on high levels of responsibility.
Performance Apprentices are paired with a Broadway Dreams faculty or staff member as their direct mentor, ensuring guidance and support throughout the program.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting faculty members with classroom activities and production needs.
- Taking detailed notes during sessions to support faculty and students.
- Coordinating and managing students to ensure smooth transitions between activities (“student wrangling”).
- Supporting daily scheduling and program logistics.
- Completing additional administrative and production tasks as required.
As leaders within the Broadway Dreams community, Performance Apprentices are expected to exemplify professionalism, dedication, and excellence, serving as role models and mentors for all participants. This role is both a significant responsibility and a unique opportunity to further develop leadership and performance skills while making meaningful contributions to the program’s success.

Directing Apprenticeship
The Directing Apprenticeship is a leadership opportunity designed for individuals majoring in or actively pursuing theatrical direction, with a demonstrated level of moderate to advanced experience.
Directing Apprentices work closely with Broadway Dreams faculty, gaining hands-on experience in the creative process while assisting with:
- Developing and staging musical numbers.
- Supporting faculty in the rehearsal process.
- Performing essential administrative and production tasks as needed.
With only 1 to 3 positions available per weeklong intensive, this apprenticeship offers a highly selective and immersive experience. It is ideal for aspiring directors eager to refine their craft, build professional networks, and contribute meaningfully to the artistic vision of Broadway Dreams.

Choreography Apprenticeship
The Choreography Apprenticeship is a leadership opportunity designed for individuals majoring in dance or choreography, requiring advanced experience and a strong sense of responsibility.
Choreography Apprentices work under the mentorship of Broadway Dreams faculty, gaining invaluable, hands-on experience in the field. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the development, rehearsal, and staging of dance numbers.
- Providing support during choreography sessions.
- Handling administrative and production tasks as needed to ensure the seamless execution of each performance.
With only 1 to 3 positions available per weeklong intensive, this apprenticeship is highly competitive and provides a unique platform for aspiring choreographers to refine their skills, expand their professional networks, and contribute to the creative excellence of Broadway Dreams.

Musical Direction Apprenticeship
The Musical Direction Apprenticeship is a leadership role tailored for musicians and aspiring musical directors with advanced piano skills and the ability to sight-read musical notation. Ideal candidates will also have experience in musical arrangement, copying, and transposition.
Musical Direction Apprentices will work closely with Broadway Dreams Musical Directors and Accompanists, assisting in class and rehearsal settings. Key responsibilities include:
- Annotating and developing musical arrangements.
- Preparing and making musical copies.
- Supporting rehearsals and assisting with other production tasks as needed.
With only 1 to 3 spots available per weeklong intensive, this apprenticeship offers a rare and invaluable opportunity to gain hands-on experience, deepen your musical expertise, and contribute to the artistry of Broadway Dreams.
All programs provide high-level instruction from seasoned Broadway professionals and are often offered at little to no cost to participants.
Internships

Company Management Internship
The Company Management Internship is a leadership opportunity designed for interns interested in theatrical management, production, and nonprofit administration. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, a high level of responsibility, and a keen attention to detail.
Company Management Interns will work closely with the Broadway Dreams Company Manager, General Manager, Executive Director, and collaborate with venue staff and stage managers to coordinate logistics and schedules. Responsibilities include:
- Communicating effectively with participants, parents, and staff.
- Assisting in the execution of daily operations.
- Performing various administrative tasks as needed to support the program.
With only 1 to 3 spots available per weeklong intensive, this internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in theater management and production, while contributing to the success of Broadway Dreams.

FAQs
Who is eligible to apply?
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Priority will be given to individuals who have at least one year of college experience or equivalent professional experience. Additionally, preference will be given to those who have previously participated as an apprentice, intern, or student at Broadway Dreams.
What is the commitment required of an Intern?
Apprenticeships and internships at Broadway Dreams weeklong summer intensives are offered on a city-by-city basis, and applicants can apply for as many or as few cities as they wish. Each apprenticeship or internship lasts for the duration of the program in the assigned city.
Interns and apprentices will receive a checklist of pre-program requirements, which may include assisting with local promotion, outreach, and the planning of assigned intensives.
All interns and apprentices are required to complete 30 hours of work prior to the start of the program. About 4-6 weeks before your program begins, we will provide details on various ways to fulfill these hours. Please note that failure to complete and submit the required hours may impact your eligibility to attend the program. Once you have completed the 30-hour requirement, you will be eligible for a 50% discount on all Broadway Dreams merchandise throughout the summer.
Is payment and housing included?
Apprenticeships and internships at Broadway Dreams are unpaid positions. However, special artistic grants may be offered periodically, with eligibility requirements announced publicly.
Housing is not provided, though group hotel rates are available in each city, and non-local interns may room together to help reduce costs.
